The work: Jasmine Veronique, Wild Symphony, 2023. Oil on canvas, 61 x 91cm. Courtesy: the artist.

The beloved subject of florals that celebrate special occasions and yet are found in everyday nature have been interpreted by Jasmine Veronique in a vintage vessel and high-contrast palette in a modern, loose style. Realistic but obtained with loose, gentle strokes rather than hyper-realistic detail creates softness and movement. The artist’s marks appear to capture a moving moment in time, reminding us nature is never still.

Anna Curnuck, Gallery Director, SIBU Gallery, Sydney

A lovely rendition of a classic still life setting. Wild Symphony has a vintage feeling about it and conveys a sense of optimism. There is a wild and loose flow to the brushstrokes, which adds to the appeal.
