About the Artist
Chanel comes from a region in Northern Italy close to Venice, a scenic area near forests, mountains and sea where the atmosphere is often thick with fog and mist. Chanel is a self-taught Italian painter and began by working with watercolours and acrylics, but now prefers to work with oil paints on a smaller intimate scale. Currently living and painting in Sydney, she has participated in various exhibitions and biennials in Italy and abroad.
She is an empathetic and intuitive artist who paints the nostalgic moment of an emotional experience. "I live out fragments of memories that have crystallised into the landscapes of my life"
And it is precisely those landscapes that she tries to capture, making them transcend and render them evocative, undefined and intangible so that they can gather, in their vaporousness, the transfiguration of an emotion, a feeling, a regret.. of the bittersweet poetry of life.
