Artist Statement
Whether it’s an ordinary home object I reach for every day or an eccentric velvet chair I might never own – beautiful, domestic shapes seem to find their way into most of my pieces. This past year, my long-term interest in high-end furniture has finally reached the canvas with a series of oil paintings showcasing playful designer chairs. Exploring their bold, sculptural look, obscure textures and striking compositions. I hope those who view this upcoming collection feel inspired by their unique design yet domestic purpose.
About the Artist
Brandi Hughes is a self taught multidisciplinary fine artist born and raised in Utah, the United States. After a serendipitous encounter with her now husband, Brandi relocated to Australia in 2014 and began her life as an artist there. Currently situated in the coastal regions of the Sunshine Coast, she spends her days swimming, tending to her garden and creating paintings and ceramics from her studio at home - likely with their butter-loving cat Louie by her side.
