Artist Statement
Surrender For the work to reach its essence, it must become free of the maker. The colour becomes light. Rahul Inamdar
This process demands reduction - of contexts, interpretations, the means and finally oneself.
The practice of forgetting is where it begins.
Not just the memories and the tasks, but one must let go of the whole presence, including the time and the place.
This disconnection leads to surrender - to the medium, the surface and the moment. The time becomes still. One flows with the elements. The canvas comes alive.
Treated in a particular way to be able to play with every drop of pigment and medium at its own pace, it is no more a silent bystander. Everything goes finer, more subtle, deeper.
The separation between the work, the maker and the act of making ends.
The work moves to its essence.
To freedom. To oneness.
