This Mosman home, a two-level inter-war Federation bungalow, was meticulously transformed into a modern family home with enduring appeal. After living in the house for six years, the Sydney-based family of four decided to renovate to address the home's lack of functionality and dated finishes.
The renovation project, which took 14 months to complete, was led by Home By Belle, a team of experts headed by Sarah Comerford and design director Erica Georgis. They devised an improved layout and reimagined the interior fit-out from top to bottom. The renovation included retiling the roof, adding 60sqm upstairs, and reconfiguring the downstairs layout.
Initially small and lacking storage, the kitchen was reconfigured to double in size, accommodating a large island bench, concealed butler's pantry, and abundant storage. The sleek joinery in Polytec Black Woodmatt was complemented by artworks from Anna Curnuck and Claire Stapleton, sourced from SIBU Gallery in Sydney. The painting “Noodles, Oodles & Spoodles” by Anna Curnuck added a unique touch to the kitchen.
The living area was transformed into a large open-plan lounge, with furniture zoning into a kids' TV lounge and a formal sitting area.
The dining room, previously a living area, was converted into a designated dining area for family meals and entertaining. A custom sideboard, designed and produced by Home By Belle, was added to maximise storage.
The renovation also included:
- A guest room.
- A central bathroom with a freestanding bath and black tapware.
- An ensuite.
- A powder room with floor-to-ceiling Bianco Carrara Marble Chevron mosaic tiles.
- A laundry.
