Dalin Alejandrino

Dalin Alejandrino is a self-taught artist who creates abstract artworks, each embodying a sense of wonder and beauty in nature and its forms. Currently painting from her home studio in Sydney, her abstract expressionism is characterised by unconscious memories and cascading landscapes brought to life through subtle textures, whimsical brushwork, and the free-flowing movement of colour and mixed media.

Intuitively delving into the unknown when painting, her artistic energy draws on themes hovering between past and present, family and home, land and country. She utilises layer upon layer of acrylic and mixed media to create her artworks. Dalin’s ethereal works transcend the physical, leaning into the practice of feeling through the process.

She was a Cambodian refugee, with her family having migrated to Australia in 1987, and often draws inspiration from her motherland. That estrangement from land and family is interconnected with her emotions while paying homage to family, motherhood, heritage, and provincial life.
