Bec Talbot

Bec Talbot is an Australian abstract artist based on the Gold Coast, originally from Western Sydney. Her work is deeply connected to nature, memory, and a strong sense of place, shaped by the colours, textures and rhythms of both the coastline and hinterland.

Originally trained as a primary school teacher with a Bachelor of Education, Bec's path into art unfolded during a transformative period in her life, when painting became a source of grounding, presence and joy. Time spent in nature during her healing process continues to influence her practice. A distinctive element of her work is the incorporation of sand into the paint—not only for texture, but as a physical imprint of place, carrying the energy, memory and grounding qualities of the landscape into each piece.

Her intuitive, layered process captures not landscapes themselves, but the feeling of being within them—calm, reflection and quiet energy. Her palette, once rooted in earthy tones, has evolved to include vibrant moments of colour that celebrate life and vitality.

Bec's work has been featured in Home Beautiful and Vanity Fair. She has completed a residency at MIArts Precinct, Murwillumbah and was a finalist in the Hall & Wilcox Emerging Artist Prize (2025).
