Collection: Before the Day Begins

The hour before colour arrives. Light without temperature. The pale wash of a room not yet lit, surfaces still soft at the edges. Before the Day Begins is quiet work — paintings and objects that hold a room without filling it. A pause before everything starts.

Before the Day Begins is inspired by this year's Pantone selection, Cloud Dancer, a warm off-white released from visual noise.

The collection brings together 14 works across painting and mixed media from artists who share a feel for restraint. Pamela Tang's small surfaces fold and layer — paint as fabric, parchment, skin. Anna Curnuck dissolves the horizon into atmosphere; her Shibui takes its name from the Japanese principle of quiet refinement. Dalin Alejandrino paints the moment fog lifts. Miranda Hampson incises the surface — line and texture as language. Ree Hodges works the cooler edge of the palette, where pale blue meets cream and air.

Quiet work. Slow light. The room before the day begins.
