Artist Statement
With this collection of work, I wanted to capture the quiet moments found when allowing myself playful time in nature. Offering a glimpse of what it means to be fully present, in motion, with the elements that shape both the landscape and my own creative practice. Amidst the liveliness of each day, I aim to clear my mind and open my senses through immersing myself in an ever-changing environment. The coastline is in a way, my studio. The shifting landscapes a canvas of movement and exploration by the changing light over the water, revealing new moods, textures, and colours with every step.
Lucy Mim
Lucy Mim is an abstract artist living and painting from her coastal home on Awabakal land, Newcastle. Originally born and raised in Indiana, the United States, Lucy Mim has called Australia home since 2011. She holds a bachelor’s degree of science in psychology and has completed further studies in art therapy.
Lucy Mim is recognised for her thoughtful blends of technique and emotional insight, resulting with peaceful abstract art that transforms spaces with meaning and beauty with each artwork. Primarily working with acrylics on canvas, Lucy Mim draws upon the people and natural spaces that leave thoughtful impressions on her life.
Since the start of her art career in 2021, Lucy Mim has had three sold out solo exhibitions and has been featured in publications both in Australia and London.
Lucy Mim’s creative process carries with it a vulnerability, particularly when it entails the revelation of personal narratives. She employs paintings as means of both revealing and enriching her own emotions. Art, for her, is a source of solace, enabling her to access an extraordinary sense of vitality and tranquillity.
