Artist Statement
My SHIBUI collection is an exploration into the notion of beauty. Each vessel is beautiful from all angles with the surface linework directing the eye, whilst the glaze runs and falls between the channels. See beauty in the broken, with gold seams highlighting beautiful imperfections. These vessels can be displayed in various ways and that is inherently their beauty.

About the artist
Tee McManus
Having trained at the College of Fine Arts, Tee has a Bachelor of Design majoring in Graphics, Jewellery and Textiles (with a small semester of ceramics). She has spent the last 25 years working as a brand and campaign designer for all kinds of brands, from fashion and retail to cause-driven, online, foodie and wellness. Craving a calm from the fast-paced briefs and deadline driven days, she ventured back to the world of ceramics and hasn’t looked back. First honing her skills on the wheel, then coming full circle back to her College days of hand-building which now forms the basis for all her forms. Her distinctive fluted forms are functional and sculptural pieces which draw from her designer roots. She continues to explore her obsession with shapes, lines and curves – as well as her deep love for Japanese minimalism. Her work has been seen in House & Garden, Inside Out and Home Beautiful Magazine – as well as featured in the home of Interior Designer and TV Personality Darren Palmer.
